The Unique CPA: Randy Crabtree's Journey From Managing Partner to Podcast Host

John Tyreman Season 1 Episode 9

After suffering from a stroke, Randy Crabtree made the difficult decision that he couldn't be managing partner of Tri-Merit anymore. He then stepped into a more external-facing role for the firm.

At the suggestion of his marketing team, Randy started The Unique CPA podcast in 2019. Hesitant at first, Randy quickly realized he loved meeting new people and hearing their stories.

The Unique CPA introduced Randy to new people and strengthened his passion for helping the accounting industry. Instead of talking about tax credits, Randy focuses his show on other topics of value to the accounting industry, like marketing, business development, community, HR, and much more.

Randy credits the podcast with reigniting his passion for his work and helping him find purpose. It even led to him being named a top 100 most influential people in the industry. He even started an accounting conference called Bridging the Gap based on the podcast.

In terms of a podcast editing workflow, Randy batches recordings in the months he has bandwidth. His busy season typically starts in late October, and lasts through the end of the calendar year.
